AFTER MOTOROLA SAMSUNG IS LAUNCHING ITS 2ND GEN SMARTWATCH

The Korean giant samsung showcased its Tizen based Gear S2 smartwatch at the IFA 2015 in September last year, which is set to make its entry in India later this month. , as per a report, the launch will also be accompanied with the company's futuristic Gear VR headset, which went on sale in the US and other countries a couple of months later.

From what we are hearing the launch event will be held in New Delhi on January 21,2016.
Unlike Gear S that has a rectangular design, Gear S2 smartwatch comes with a circular design and rotating bezel that can be used to jump between the menus, apps and features, in addition to the touch gestures. The second major difference is the underlying OS. The Gear S2 runs on Tizen OS, whereas Gear S was powered by Android wear. The new smartwatch comes in two different variants - Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic. While the Gear S2 comes with silicon belt, the classic comes with a more timeless watch design with leather belt. The Gear S2 also has a 3G variant, which comes with a SIM card slot within.

The underlying hardware in both the variants is same and the difference is only noted in the design. With a 1.2-inch (360x360 pixels) circular display, the smartwatch is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Gear S2 is backed by a 250mAh battery unit, which according to is good enough to offer battery life of 2-3 days. The 3G variant features a 300mAh battery, which as per the company can last for two days on a single charge. In terms of connectivity, you get NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 4.1. Besides, the smartwatch also comes with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, a heart-rate monitor and more.

As the watch runs on Tizen OS, Samsung has designed apps that notify you of emails, text messages, news, calendar events and fitness related activities. However, users will miss out on the third-party apps that are available on Google's Android Wear OS.
This time, the competition will be even tougher for Samsung, as Gear S2 has to fight the recently launched Moto 360 2nd generation, Garmin's newest Forerunner smartwatches and the already launched Apple watch.

Now coming to Samsung Gear VR headset, it is powered by Oculus and is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. It integrates an accelerator, proximity and gyro sensor to sense the different movements and surroundings. Along with the headset, Oculus also announced new content, for the platform including services such as Twitch, TiVo, Netflix, Lionsgate, Hulu and gaming titles such as Minecraft. The Gear VR headset will be available in frost white color.

At this juncture we are not sure on how Samsung will be pricing these devices and will have to wait for the launch date to know about the same. We shall be at the launch, bringing you all the action as it unfolds so stay tuned for more updates.
